The Mission Continues

Happy Independence Day everyone!! 😊

Today marks the 73rd anniversary of the creation of Pakistan which was formed on 14th August 1947.

I was reading a poem of Allama Iqbal this morning and a portion of that poem caught my eye. It got me thinking about the qualities of leadership, and how all these qualities were demonstrated by Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah during our pursuit of Pakistan. We were so lucky and blessed that we got such an honest and upright leadership right when the Muslims of subcontinent needed it the most.

ہاتھ ہے اللہ کا بندۂ مومن کا ہاتھ
غالب و کار آفریں، کارکُشا، کارساز
(The hand of the believer becomes the hand of Allah Almighty. He is successful and creative, resourceful and a go-getter.)
The poet is referring to a hadith of Sahih Bukhari where Allah Almighty says I become the sight, the hearing, the hands and the feet of the believer.

خاکی و نوری نہاد، بندۂ مولا صفات
ہر دو جہاں سے غنی اس کا دلِ بے نیاز
(He is from this world, yet he has celestial qualities. He is contented with himself, and his heart is free of base desires.)

اس کی امیدیں قلیل، اس کے مقاصد جلیل
اس کی ادا دل فریب، اس کی نگہِ دل نواز

(His hopes are slim, his aims are high. His manners are charming, his mere glance wins people's hearts)

نرم دمِ گفتگو، گرم دمِ جُستجو
رزم ہو یا بزم ہو، پاک دل و پاکباز
(He is soft in his speech, he is tough in the pursuit of his goals. Whether he is in a gathering with his friends or in a combat with his enemies, he is pure in his heart and clean in his conduct)

This was the leadership that created Pakistan. Alhumdulillah. Thanks to Allah Almighty for giving us Pakistan. Thank you Allah ji for giving us a freedom both from British occupation and from hindu domination and oppression. Thank you for giving us a homeland where we can live freely and where we can hope to live our lives in accordance with Quran and Sunnah.

But we should keep in mind that the noble struggle for Pakistan is not finished yet. We have achieved a land for Muslims, but we are yet to transform this land according to the vision of the Pakistan movement. And sometimes we forget why we got this land in the first place.

Pakistan ka matlab kya?
la Ilaha Il Allah!
(What is the meaning of Pakistan?
There is no god but Allah!)

We are like a family who had a dream of building their own home. They worked tirelessly, day and night, and one day they succeeded in buying the land for their home. But then they forgot that their goal was to build a house on that land. Now every year, they just celebrate the day when they bought that land, completely oblivious to the fact that this was not their ultimate goal. It was simply a means to their goal.

"We do not demand Pakistan simply to have a piece of land but we want a laboratory where we could experiment on Islamic principles."
(Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah, 1946, Peshawar)

"All I require of you now is that everyone of us to whom this message reaches must vow to himself and be prepared to sacrifice his all, if necessary, in building up Pakistan as a bulwark of Islam and as one of the greatest nations whose ideal is peace within and peace without."
(Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah, 30 October 1947, Lahore)

This aspect of the Pakistan movement is still incomplete. We need to build this house, we need to make Pakistan a bulwark of Islam, and there is so much work left to be done.

Pakistan movement is still on going!
The mission continues...

Pakistan Zindabad!! ❤️🇵🇰❤️
