Attended Talk - Prof Ahmed Chemori

I just attended a very impressive talk by Prof. Ahmed Chemori (LIRMM, CNRS Montpellier, France. Originally from Algeria) on the topic “Control of Complex Robotic Systems: From Challenges to Experiments”.

It was a very comprehensive lecture that covered everything from the history of Robotics (it started with Greeks, like so many other things 😜. But discussing Al-Jazari was a great touch 🤩), Ind
ustrial Robots, Under-actuated Robots, Parallel Robots, Wearable Robots, Humanoid Robots, Underwater Robots and so many other things. I was so impressed that how can one man work on so many different fields at the same time. But you know what did he advise us? He said that in the beginning of your careers, choose the topic that you love and stick to it (lol 😂).

His PhD was on the footstep planning of Humanoid Robots. And it turns out that he is a good friend of Dr Yasar Ayaz and he almost visited Pakistan when we had organized the iCREATE conference in NUST back in 2014.

It is a source of inspiration and motivation for me to know that there are such fellow Muslims out there are doing such a wonderful work in Robotics.

If you are interested to know more about him, then please see his CV.
