Wasn't this movie supposed to be for kids?
The kids may not realize this but actually this movie is very deep.
It is a tale of a lonely little girl who is under severe pressure from her control freak mother who wants her to get admission to the best school in the city and has devised a life plan for her down to the minute. The little girl forms an unlikely friendship with an eccentric old man. Both of them try to complete the story of the little prince that the old man had started writing over the summer.
The dialogues are superbly written. Sometimes you need to pause the movie and think over what has just been said.
"It is only with the heart that one can see rightly. What is essential is not visible to the eye."
"You run the risk of weeping a little, when you let yourself get tamed."
(When the prince and the fox see a garden full of roses)
The Prince: "My rose is just a common rose? But she told me she was one of her kind in the whole universe."
The Fox: "But she is not a common rose, she is your rose. It is the time you have devoted to your rose that makes your rose so important."
The Prince: "She is my rose." :)
"The men where you live grow thousands of roses and they do not find what they are looking for. What they are looking for could be found in a single rose, or a little water."
